Electrical Services for Northbridge Homes and Businesses
Northbridge is five villages rather than one town: Whitinsville, Rockdale, Linwood, Riverdale and Northbridge Center. The Whitin family built close to a thousand worker dwellings here between 1820 and 1920, and much of that housing is still standing and still occupied. It makes Northbridge one of the most intact company towns in the country, and it makes the electrical picture here different from anywhere else in the Blackstone Valley.
Bergeron Contracting works throughout Northbridge. We hold Massachusetts Master Electrician License #21807-A, carry full insurance, and file wiring permits with the Northbridge Building Department, which holds electrical inspections in a set morning window each week. We plan around that so your job is not sitting waiting on a sign off.
Roughly a third of Northbridge housing dates to before 1939. Service entrances and panels sized for a 1920s mill cottage cannot support a modern kitchen, a heat pump or an EV charger, and grounding and bonding on houses of that age almost always predate current code. We assess what is actually there before quoting, because on a house of this vintage the surprise is usually behind the panel cover rather than in the room you are standing in.
Northbridge is served by National Grid, which means a service upgrade follows a specific order: we file the work request with National Grid, pull the town wiring permit, do the work, pass the municipal inspection, and only then does National Grid energize the new service. That sequence is not optional, and it is the single most common reason a panel upgrade takes longer than a homeowner expects. We manage it end to end so you are not chasing the utility.
Outside the village centers, along Route 146 and toward the Sutton and Uxbridge lines, homes are more likely to be on private septic systems. Septic pump and alarm circuits, generator inlets and interlock kits, and exterior lighting on long driveways are all regular work for us there.

Yes. All four are villages of Northbridge, along with Northbridge Center, and we serve all of them. Permits for every one of them go through the same Northbridge Building Department.
On homes of that era the service entrance and panel are almost always the starting point, along with grounding and bonding that predate current code. We assess the actual condition before quoting, because on a house of that vintage the surprises are behind the panel cover rather than in the room you are standing in.
Outlet and switch work typically runs $200 to $300, and a service call is $250 to $450. A panel upgrade from 100 amp to 200 amp runs $4,500 to $6,500 depending on the service and the scope. Every estimate is free and provided in writing.
Yes. We file the wiring permit with the Northbridge Building Department and book the inspection. Northbridge holds electrical inspections in a set morning window each week, so we schedule the work to line up with it rather than leaving your project waiting on a sign off.
The physical work is usually one day. The overall timeline is set by National Grid and the town: work request to National Grid, town wiring permit, installation, municipal inspection, then the utility energizes the new service. We manage that whole sequence and give you a realistic date up front.
